In the shoes of the mayor… of Bonneuil-sur-Marne who restored “pride” to Gheorghe, stuck in substandard housing

Denis Öztorun, the French-Turkish (PCF) mayor of Bonneuil-sur-Marne (Val-de-Marne), has made his commitment to his constituents a real fight. Le Parisien-DA/Philippe Lavieille

The mayor remains the French people's favorite local elected official, the one they identify with, the one they turn to in times of difficulty. Invested, under pressure, and mistreated... mayors perform a role that is becoming less and less appealing, as the mission has become so difficult. On his desk, his lucky charms, gifts from loved ones, and souvenirs line up in a tight row. And there's no question of removing one. At the top of the pile is the Playmobil gift from his son. He's Denis Öztorun . Sentimental? "Very human." The description doesn't come from his entourage, but from Gheorghe. This 49-year-old father has no words to thank the mayor of Bonneuil-sur-Marne (Val-de-Marne).
